The Billy Walton Band November 2019 UK tour announced

The award-winning Billy Walton Band from New Jersey bring their impassioned musical party to tour the UK in November 2019 with new songs, a special new show for two of the nights, and the same Rock ‘n’ Soul showmanship their British fans are used to.
Tour dates:
Tuesday 19th November, The Kings Arms, Bedford, Bedfordshire
Wednesday 20th November, Bourne Music Club, Sittingbourne, Kent
Thursday 21st November, Bluefunk Rhythm and Blues Club, Poynton, Cheshire – Asbury Park special
Friday 22nd November, Bluefunk Rhythm and Blues Club, Poynton, Cheshire – with special guest Gary
Saturday 23rd November, Smokey Joe’s, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

The band are known for their exceptional live shows, reflected in reviews for their last album, Soul Of A Man on Vizztone Records, which No Depression called “a combination of rock and soul blended together like that of no other” and which Blues Blast described as “horn-driven blues-rock with a slick, urban feel”. What makes this UK tour special is the road-testing of new songs so fresh they’re being tuned up in the UK before live audiences ahead of selection for the band’s next album, details of which are as yet otherwise shrouded in mystery. What will be more visible pre-tour is the release of a studio-recorded take on the 9 -minute live version of their anthemic song ‘Mountain’, now firmly embedded as a bring-the-house-down show closer. In addition, the two shows at Poynton each have a special attraction. Show one will showcase a selection of Asbury Park sound favourites, and for show two the band will, uniquely, include venue promoter and vocalist Garry White.
As guitarist with the legendary group Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Billy Walton recorded with Little Steven, and Billy has sat in with numerous rock luminaries including Bruce Springsteen, Gary U.S. Bonds, and Stevie Ray Vaughan’s band, Double Trouble. Billy is called by Roger Mayer, the British sound guru who worked with Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Jimi Hendrix, “a star in the making”.
The touring band comprises Billy Walton – lead guitar and vocals; William Paris – bass and vocals; Tom Petracarro – sax; Francis Valentino – drums; Bruce Krywinski Jr. – trumpet; and
Eric Safka – keyboards.
The Billy Walton Band’s sound is a combination of hard, funky Blues reminiscent of Hendrix, Clapton and Vaughan, mixed with a healthy dose of the sounds of Asbury Park.

Greg Coulson’s new album, Classic Rock magazine review

Classic Rock magazine‘s November issue offers up their review of Greg Coulson’s debut album, ‘What’s New?’ The blurry photo above – if you want to read it as it really looks, buy the magazine – captures the review, which scores the album 7/10 and says:

“Gregory Coulson has the homegrown R&B thing down – see jiving opener 10/10, the cocksure Sick Note and the lift-off chorus of Girls, all three songs as fresh as the genre has sounded in years. But there’s more: Someone To Be There hints at Coulson’s Two-Tone past in The Selecter, while End Of The Line opens with an AC/DC jitter-riff that sits nicely with Coulson’s Brian Johnson flat cap.”

Greg Coulson’s Whats New album well received

A recent Presenters Pick of the Month by the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association (IBBA), Greg Coulson’s debut album ‘What’s New?’ has been well received by critics and given extensive radio and online airplay. So much so that it was Number 1 in the IBBA airplay chart in July 2018, preceded by rave reviews of his HRH Blues Festival appearance in April and followed by his competing in the UK Blues Challenge 2018. Reviews include:

RNR magazine, “… a worthy debut… As an ensemble, Coulson’s band displays the tightness essential to handle the passion and timing of his thoughtfully arranged songs”

Blues In Britain magazine says that Greg is “A triple threat on guitar, organ and vocals… there is plenty to enjoy here”

Bluesdoodles online, “…an enthralling mix of styles played by a band of great skill and energy” – full review here

After the Uckfield Blues & Roots Festival, Blues in Britain magazine wrote an upbeat review of Greg’s show, adding, “not many people could follow that.” With more airplay and reviews coming in, this is a watershed year for Greg Coulson.
